I review web projects before you commit to them

Sheet 01-05 — Consultancy

A second opinion from someone who has built and run the thing: architecture, vendor and quote review, platform choice, team enablement. By the hour or by the problem.

01 — What I look at

The parts list

Part 01

Architecture review

Hosting, CMS, build and deploy, backups, monitoring — drawn as it is, marked up as it should be.

Part 02

Vendor & quote review

What a proposal includes, what it leaves out, and which line items will come back as change requests.

Part 03

Platform choice

WordPress, Payload, a static site or something else — chosen for your content and team, not for the vendor’s habits.

Part 04

Migration planning

URL inventory, content model, phasing and cutover, so the move can be scoped and priced properly.

Part 05

Team enablement

Workshops and pairing for your developers or editors, on your own codebase and content.

Part 06

Fractional CTO

A standing technical lead for agencies and studios — the role I held as co-founder and CTO of Ten88 Digital.

03 — How it goes

Six steps, one red-line pass

  1. 01Brief

One call or one email: the decision, the deadline, who signs off.

  2. 02Read

Repositories, quotes, contracts, dashboards — whatever the decision rests on.

  3. 03Draw

The current setup as a drawing everyone can point at.

  4. 04Red-line

What is risky, what is missing, what costs more than it should.

  5. 05Recommend

A short written recommendation with options and trade-offs.

  6. 06Follow up

Questions answered while you act on it — or I build it.

04 — Fit check

Is this the right sheet?

This is for you if
  • You are about to sign a quote and want it read by someone on your side.
  • Your team inherited a site nobody fully understands.
  • You need to choose a platform and every vendor recommends their own.
Not for you if
  • You want someone to agree with a decision already made.
  • You need a large team on site for months — I work alone or white-label.
Do you only recommend your own services?
No. The recommendation names options, including ones I don’t sell. If I would build it, I say so separately.
Can you sign an NDA?
Yes. Reviews often involve contracts, credentials and numbers that stay in-house.
How is it billed?
By the hour for open questions, or a fixed fee per review once the scope is clear: [RATE].
05 — Book a review

Tell me the decision. I’ll tell you what I’d check.

Tell me what you have and what it needs to do. I reply with questions, then a scoped quote — usually within a week.
